Atlantic mornings start before the rest of the country has unlocked the office. That gap is useful. We can finish a letter at 07:00 and still catch Ottawa and Toronto as they sit down. Halifax also keeps us close to provincial files that national wires treat as footnotes.

The desk exists because the overnight tray had become a second job for people who already have one. We wanted a letter that named the document, skipped the fog, and arrived while coffee was still hot. Boutique, on this street, means forty seats, one flow of work a day, and a reply from the same desk that wrote the briefing.

We do not keep a public staff list. The work is signed by Digitalnewshub. If you write in, you hear back from the people who opened the bulletins that morning.

There are no paid placements in the briefing. A seat buys the letter. It does not buy a mention. Sponsored lines do not sit inside editorial copy, and we do not mix an advertisement with a news item.

If a reader’s organization appears in a public document we would have read anyway, the item still has to earn its two sentences. We say so when a conflict is close enough to matter, and we leave the item to the next morning if we cannot write it cleanly.
